Abby's First Christmas

Well, my dear little Great-Grand-Daughter, your first Christmas is over now.  I must tell you a little about it because you made everyone's Christmas so very special.

You were our little star.  If you smiled, laughed or cried, everyone's eyes were on you.  And I must say, my little Darling, you smiled most all of the time!

On Christmas morning, you opened one present (with Mommy & Daddy's help) before your nap.  Although I must tell you, your Grandma & Grandpa Rose gave you presents all week long so you had a lot of "pre-Christmas" presents too.  After you opened your first Christmas present under the tree, everyone took pictures of you and you smiled for each and every one!  (I think you like having your picture taken and, as you are so beautiful, I'm glad you accept all the attention with a smile.)

Well, of course, then it was nap time, so all of us just had to wait until your woke up.  In the mean time we most of all talked about you.  After your nap Great Grandpa Rose, who was never one for holding little babies before, took you.  It really surprised everyone but me, I knew your charm would win him over plus you reached out your little hands to him.  Pictures were taken of you with Great Grandma & Grandpa Rose plus lots more so you can see, when you are older, what your first Christmas was like.  Publisher's note:  link to Christmas 97 pictures to be added here.

Even though the cast on my leg came off on the 23rd, I could not get down on the floor to play with you, in fact it's Jan 7, 1998 and I still can't make it to the floor.  But you and I still had a good time with you sitting on my lap we had our little talks so I enjoyed myself very much.

While you made Grandpa Rose proud by sitting in his lap and watching football with almost as much interest as he had, your Grandma Rose (my daughter) fixed the Christmas dinner table with a little train and bears that she had made just for you.  I hope you inherit your Grandma's talent - that lady can do just about anything - I guess you can tell your Great Grandma is pretty proud of her daughter (your Grandma).   Publisher's note:   blush!

The only ones missing I think you would have had a lot of fun with, your Uncle David and Uncle Cory (maybe someday they can come for Christmas) but I must tell you  that your Uncle Joel and Aunt Andrea would have had a hard time sharing you with them.  They think you are a very special little girl so all in all, Abby, you made everyone very happy!

So this is the story of your first Christmas.  I could write more but there is always next year........................
                        I love you very much,
                                          Great Grandma Harrison
