Dear Precious Parent: There is one thing I want to do more of in 2009 than I did in 2008. I want to pray more. I am reminded of a statement Charles Swindoll made on a Christian radio program I was listening to, "One of the most convicting verses in all of Scripture is found in James Chapter 2, 'You do not have because you do not ask.'" WOW, nine powerful words. Many years ago, I started this web page letter to encourage parents (that is, you and me) as we pray for our children to DO IT--to truly be parents who pray. The Scripture Prayer Calendar below* helps me, and I trust it helps you too as you pray for your loved ones. I often say this, but it is worth saying again, "When my boys were little boys--they had little problems. But now that they are grown men with families of their own--they, their precious wives and children, need my prayers now more than ever. I declare with the prophet Samuel, "Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you"(my precious family!). It is a privilege to approach the throne of grace knowing that God answers prayer, James 5:15b, "The prayer of a righteous person (Mom and Dad) is powerful and effective." We do not know what the future holds in 2009, but as the saying goes, "We know Who holds the future". Our walk is a walk of faith, and our God IS a faithful God who is in control. However, if we have not because we do not ask, well, what are we waiting for?! Let us drop to our knees before God Almighty and start asking on behalf of our families. Matthew 7:7 reads, "Ask and it will be given to you." I close with this prayer from Jude 1:24-25, "To Him who is able to keep you (and me, as well as our precious families) from falling and to present you (us) before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy--to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." Love Rhonda
