Dear Precious Parent:

"Don't fear tomorrow, God is already there." Those encouraging words were on a plague above the desk of Ruth Bell Graham. (The wife of evangelist Billy Graham, she is now home with the Lord.) "Don't fear tomorrow, God is already there" are especially beautiful words to think about when we face life's challenges.

Earlier this year, I shared with you this picture of me with my granddaughter, Bella (2), and grandson, Beaux (5). This is one of my favorite pictures of my precious grandchildren. Luke, our son, took this picture. It was really funny because Bella would not smile. Luke is Bella's daddy and he began making funny faces. Bella still would not smile. Luke then made a very scary face. Beaux wasn't too sure about his uncle's expression, but Bella was thrilled and starting laughing. She knew her daddy and she knew she could trust him. In the same way, when life is staring at us with a "scary face" we can look to our Heavenly Father, remember His faithfulness in times past, and trust in Him.

We surely live in uncertain times. Many people today are facing financial difficulties; some are facing family crises; and others have health issues; some on TV are predicting the start of World War III. No one knows what tomorrow holds, but I am so glad to know who holds tomorrow and who is holding me and my family as we go through life's "scary faces". That gives me peace. Thank You, Jesus!

Thirty-one years ago this month, Gary and I became Christians. A couple we met, Jay and Denise, invited us to their church and we decided to attend that next Sunday. At the close of the service, we responded to the pastor's message and walked up the aisle, knelt together at the altar, and gave our lives to Jesus. Life took a drastic turn for the better. It is hard to believe that was October 1978. The time has gone by fast. Our family has enjoyed lots of fun times, lots of great times; however, through the years, we've also had our share of "scary faces" staring at us. Jesus has always been faithful to us. Jesus has never forsaken us. Jesus has been true to His word.

Are you going through a "scary face" time? Join with me in prayer as we declare together,

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord: 'He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.'"
(Psalm 91:1-2)

What a joy to be able to approach the throne of God on behalf of our family and friends knowing, "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16b). Below is the Scripture prayer calendar*, a tool for you to use as you pray for your loved ones, especially your children (and grandchildren).

God bless you, my friend.
Love,
Rhonda

P.S.: On a side note, I thank God that Jay and Denise invited us to their church. We lost track of each other through the years, I wonder where they are? I'll have to do a google search and see if I can find them. I often wonder where Gary and I might be today if that precious couple had not invited us to their church? Let us ask the Lord to bring someone to our mind who we could invite to church and then let's do it. A simple invitation could change someone's life for eternity--it did Gary and me! God IS still changing people's lives today and for all eternity.
