Hi
Friend:
As we begin the
new year, I want to share with
you one of God's characteristics
that I am especially THANKFUL
for--HIS
FAITHFULNESS. Our
world today is full of
uncertainty. What does the
future hold? I am THANKFUL that
our God is ever FAITHFUL!
- "Your
faithfulness continues through
all
generations;
- You
established the earth, and it
endures."
Psalm
119:90
CREATION IS
AMAZING AND POINTS TO AN AWESOME,
FAITHFUL GOD
The moon is
smaller than the sun, stars and
earth. The moon in closer to us
than the stars and sun. It takes
the moon about four weeks to spin
around the earth. However, the
way that the moon spins, we never
see the other side of the moon
(except through the technology of
the camera). People used to think
the moon was bright because it
was on fire. But the moon has no
light of its own. The sun shines
on the moon and it reflects light
(like a mirror). The other side
of the moon is always dark
because it faces away from the
sun. We see the moon in various
shapes, this is due to the angle
of the moon to the sun and the
way the sun's light reflects off
the moon's surface. If we stood
on the moon, and looked at the
earth, we would see a very
bright, tiny earth.
The sun is a
star. Stars are fireballs that
burn hot. The sun looks bigger
than other stars, because it is
closer to the earth. It is the
perfect distance from the earth.
If it were further away, there
would be no life on earth as it
would be too cold. And if the sun
was closer to us, the earth would
burn up. There are billions of
stars.
The air around
the earth is perfect for
sustaining life. The moon has no
air. The sun shining on the earth
gives us day, while the other
side of the earth is dark and it
is night time. The earth is
always spinning on its axis, yet
we don't fall off or even feel it
moving. The earth spins all the
way around on its axis once every
24 hours. It takes one year for
the earth to go around the
sun.
Planets (just
like the Earth) look like they
are bright, but it is only
because they reflect light from
the sun deep in space. Planets
and the moon help ships and
airplanes navigate at
night.
I could go on and
on and share more of the amazing
facts about God's creation. You
could do a search on the internet
to read much more.
The above are not
just interesting facts, but proof
of God's amazing faithfulness.
And if God is so faithful over
the universe, imagine how
faithful He is to His masterpiece
in all of creation--people, you
and me!
PEOPLE'S LIVES
ARE EXAMPLES OF GOD'S
FAITHFULNESS
"My eyes shall be
on the faithful ones of the
land" Psalm
101:6.
We see God's
faithfulness in all of His
creation. But there is also many
examples of God's faithfulness in
the Holy Scriptures. Consider
Abraham, he had a good testimony.
Abraham followed God even though
he did not know where God was
leading Him. And Sarah, his wife,
though she was past child bearing
age, she conceived and gave birth
to a son.
TRUE
STORY
We see God's
faithfulness in the Holy
Scriptures but also in the lives
of God's people throughout each
generation. There is a story
about a pastor of a small, rural
church in Scotland. He had been
forced out by his elders, who
claimed they saw no fruit from
his ministry. The village in
which the pastor served was a
difficult place. People's hearts
were cold and hostile to the
truth. During the time the pastor
served, there had been no
conversions and no baptisms. But
he did recall one positive
response to his
preaching.
When the offering
plate was passed during a
service, a young boy placed the
plate on the floor, stood up, and
stepped into it. When asked to
explain, he replied that he had
been deeply touched by the
minister's life, and while he had
no money to give he wanted to
give himself wholly to
God.
The boy who
stepped into the plate was Bobby
Moffat, who in 1817 became a
pioneer missionary to South
Africa. He was greatly used of
God to touch many lives. And it
all started with that small
church and the faithful work of
that unappreciated pastor. We can
see the faithfulness of God in
the lives of both the
unappreciated pastor and Bobby
Moffat.
Do you ever feel
unappreciated? Do you sometimes
feel like you are the only one
who is faithful? While the world
looks to the famous, the
successful, be encouraged as you
remember, "His eyes are on
the faithful." His
eyes are on you and me. Just as
God was faithful to Abraham and
Sarah, the unappreciatede pastor
and Bobby Moffat, along with
countless others, we can rest
assured knowing He is faithful to
you and me.

faithful love of the Lord

good and faithful
